Gin was imported by the English during their occupation of Menorca between 1708 and 1802. It is one of the oldest gins in the Mediterranean. <\/span><\/h3>\n

Handcrafted production<\/span><\/h2>\n

This beloved traditional drink is still made exactly as it was in the past.<\/span><\/h3>\n

At the Gin Xoriguer distillery in Mah\u00f3n<\/a><\/strong>, it is made in a completely natural and organic way, in copper stills that are over 250 years old.<\/p>\n

It is then filtered in American oak barrels, where it rests and acquires its characteristic flavour and aromas.<\/p>\n

That is why this gin has a recognised geographical indication, \u201cGin de Mah\u00f3n\u201d, and is exported to countless countries.<\/p>\n

The \u2018pomada\u2019 or \u2018gin and lemonade\u2019<\/span><\/h2>\n

This gin has a strong juniper flavour. Combined with lemonade, it is used to make the traditional \u2018pomada\u2019 or \u2018gin amb llimonada\u2019, which is the typical drink consumed during Menorca’s patron saint festivities<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It is advisable to mix gin with a good homemade lemonade, although most bars serve it with lemon soda, usually with the typical soda made in Menorca by \u2018Cas Xifoner\u2019.<\/p>\n

We recommend visiting the Gin Xoriguer distillery in the port of Mah\u00f3n, where you can see how it is made and enjoy a tasting. They also have a wide range of traditional and artisan liqueurs, such as herbal liqueur, palo, bloody Island (figs) and, of course, the traditional pomada.<\/p>\n
