Information about the island
Where it is: Menorca is an island paradise located in the center of the Western Mediterranean, and is part of the archipelago of the Balearic Islands.
Inhabitants: It has a population of 98,348 inhabitants, divided into. 8 towns the capital is Mahón in the east of the island, which together with Ciudadela in the west, are the most populated municipalities of the island.
It has an area of 702 square kilometers and 216 kilometers of coastline that give a lot, surrounded by beaches and coves paradisiacal beaches and coves, natural reserves and a multitude of archaeological remains the island is rich in geological, cultural and patrimonial diversity.
Landscape and geology
The Menorcan landscape is a combination of colors, shades and tonalities.

The North (Tramuntana) is formed by small hills, separated by wide valleys, in which superb beaches open up, such as La Vall, Cala Pregonda, Binimel.la, the lighthouse of Cap de Favàritx etc..
On the other hand, the south (migjorn), is a limestone platform, crossed from north to south, by narrow ravines that lead to tourist beaches such as; Cala Galdana, Cala’n Porter and undeveloped coves such as Son Saura, Cala Turqueta, Cala Macarella etc.
The highest point is the “mountain” of Monte Toro (El Toro) with 358 meters of altitude, from its top you can see the whole island.
There is a monastery where the patron saint of Menorca, “la Mare de deu del Toro”, spiritual reference of the Menorcans, is venerated.

The island’s climate is typically Mediterranean, with mild and pleasant temperatures most of the year. Menorca is characterized by strong winds from the north, the “tramuntana” which is more present especially in the winter months.

Each year, about 1.5 million tourists visit the island, mainly during the summer months. The majority of visitors are from the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. Menorca is known for its commitment to environmental environmental conservation and sustainable tourism.
Language
As in the rest of the Balearic Islands, Spanish and Menorcan (dialect of Catalan) are spoken in Menorca,both are official languages.
